Dr. Salva Nicas, MD

At the beginning of the Cornel Program, it was difficult to fit in with the culture, language, and difference in ideas but that didn’t stop my excitement and a few days later I found myself gaining friends and sisters. During the program, we learned a lot from each other in terms of differences in health insurance and health-seeking behavior in the USA and Tanzania. After the 4 weeks program, I was lucky to take part in the fieldwork on Breastfeeding Education (BHAMC) around women living in Moshi which gave us the opportunity to visit nearby Health Centers. In 2019 April I was selected as a Visiting Scholar at Cornell University in Ithaca for a month. During this time we had an opportunity to share and attend different academic presentations which widened my knowledge in terms of research and the importance of Global Health and Nutrition for the betterness of the World. The Program also gave me an opportunity to grow socially and emotionally as I gained friends and built my Global Network. I’m delighted and thankful for this program and I encourage other students to pursue it.
